Cloth Nappies....

Posted by Picasa

The decision to use cloth sort of just came from no where. I am not an overly environmentally conscious person. I don't really love doing laundry. And yet I couldn't resist the idea of soft cloth on my little boy's skin, and super cute fabrics for summertime when he will spend lots of time in just his diaper.

I won't lie, it's been a challenge. And probably not something I would recommend to the squeamish or for a mom who is always on the go. You have to make the time to wash them and put them away. I have tried a few different methods, and I find that if I don't make the time to rinse the nappy after EACH change I am sorry later. I've set it up so that I can just put him down and switch on the mobile to keep him entertained while I clean off the nappy and wash my hands. It's working pretty well, but I have to remember to do it every time. I also need to wash every 1-2 days. If I wait any longer it becomes a hassle because the weather may not be good for drying and we end up in disposables for a day. But, after using cloth the thought of putting him in disposables isn't very appealing. So I really try to stay on top of it.

I bought a range of brands and types, and this was the smartest thing I could have done. I definitely have my favorites, but for the most part they are all very good. The one shown here is by at WAHM (Work at home mum) named Holly, and her brand is called Bum Cheeks. Other favorites are Little Britches, Bonnibuns, and Cushie Tushies :)

I stood up from my chair after feeding Cooper and saw his sock left behind and just thought it would make a cute picture :)

Caught up!

Ok I think I've caught up with the posts now. I'll keep updating as we go. Cooper will be 5 weeks tomorrow! I can't believe how fast it's gone by.

We've pretty much finished with renovations on the house. All the lights are in now, they look fantastic. We're so lucky to have a friend who knows how to install down lights, it makes the house look brand new! Curtains are up, carpet is in, most of the painting is done (except for bathrooms) and all that's left is to unpack the few things left! It feels like we never get to rest right now, but it's all worth it. Cooper has been out with us a few times now for various things. He just chills out in the Moby Wrap with me and sleeps :)

We got a doggy door so that our little doggy Red can come live with us soon. It needs to be installed, but once it's in then she can come home! She's still at the in laws house and I'm pretty sure they don't mind keeping her ;) Who would?!

Katrina Christ photo session

I went to the Sydney Baby Expo awhile back and I won a runners up prize with Katrina Christ Photography for a free shoot, where they come to your house and do your makeup and take photos. That was worth $150 and then we got $100 towards anything that we buy. So here are some previews from the shoot that Dan took. Luckily the light upstairs was pretty good :)

2-4 weeks

I have waaaay too many cute pictures to post them all here, so here are a few of him between 2 and 4 weeks old.

Leavin on a jet plane

So my Mom came out a couple weeks before Cooper was born and stayed for 2 weeks after. We were so lucky to have her here, I definitely needed her help. We were also in the process of moving back into our house and Dan was doing renovations to it first so I was even MORE glad she was here because of all that. She put together my kitchen which was the part I was dreading. And she pretty much did laundry for me every single day. She made sure I ate well, and she made sure I was able to rest as much as possible. I am so thankful for that time she gave us. And I know that Dan was so thankful to have her there while I was in labor. She was our rock during a difficult but happy time and we are so lucky to have her. We miss her everyday.
